Free Pickup & Hand Delivery · Every Order Handled by Me

Scanned · Sorted · Backed up

Rediscover what's been waiting in the box.

There's never a perfect time to tackle a box of old photos, so it often gets pushed to next month, then next year. But inside are stories, milestones, and memories worth revisiting. Digitizing them makes it easier to enjoy, share, and pass down those moments, bringing family history out of storage and back into everyday life.

Why me?

01

These photos matter

They're more than pictures. They're family history.

02

I preserve the stories

When there's handwriting on the back, I scan that too, because names, dates, and memories are just as important as the image itself.

03

I treat them like my own

Every order is handled personally by me, from pickup to delivery. No shipping. No warehouses. Just careful, local service you can trust.

Let's talk

Not sure how many photos you have? Most people aren't. Package recommendations are based on the overall size and complexity of your collection, including albums, organization needs, photo sizes, and total photo count. I'll confirm the best package when I pick up the collection.

Family history isn't just photographs. Packages include photographs and flat keepsakes up to 8×10 inches, including certificates, newspaper clippings, greeting cards, handwritten notes, and other family mementos. Contact me about larger items.

Optional add-ons
Rush — 72-hour turnaround+50%

Need it for a memorial service, reunion, or special event? I keep room for rush work and will get it done.

Album handling — traditional albums$40 · $75 · $130

Small, medium, or large album. These are albums where photos slide into sleeves, pockets, or corners and can usually be removed safely. If I encounter a photo that doesn't release easily, I'll stop and contact you before proceeding.

Album handling — magnetic albumsCustom quote

These are the older "magnetic" albums common in the 1970s and 1980s. Despite the name, they aren't actually magnetic. Photos were placed onto adhesive pages and covered by a plastic sheet. Over time, the adhesive bonds to the photograph, making removal difficult and often damaging. Tearing, curling, cracking, or lifting of the photo surface can occur even with careful handling. Because the risk applies to the entire album, written consent is required before removal begins. I'll review the album with you and explain the risks before any work starts.

USB drive+$25

Most customers choose the included download link, but a USB drive is available upon request.

About organizing: I preserve the organization of the collection the way it was given to me. Albums, envelopes, and boxes come back as folders in the same order they arrived in, so whatever grouping you or whoever kept them already had is still there when you open the files.
Prices are before Utah sales tax. Not sure which package fits? Send me a message. Most people don't know how many photos they have, and that's okay. I'll help you choose the right package for your collection.

How it works

Four steps. You only do one.

Step One

Tell me what you have

Roughly how many boxes or albums, and where you are located.

Call, text, or send the quote form. You'll talk directly to me, and I'll help you determine which package is the best fit.

Step Two

I pick them up

Right at your door.

We'll review the collection together, document the boxes and albums, and I'll take care of the rest. No sorting, counting, or prep work required.

Step Three

I scan and organize

Every photo is handled by me personally.

Written-on backs are scanned too, and I preserve the organization of how the photos were given to me. Everything is backed up in two places during the process, and I'll keep you updated along the way.

Step Four

I bring everything back

Your originals are returned by hand in the same containers they arrived in.

Along with a secure download link and a printed care sheet. I'll give you an honest turnaround estimate up front. I'd rather beat a deadline than miss one.

Kassie Snyder with her husband and their two children
Who's doing this

Meet Kassie

Hi, I'm Kassie Snyder, owner of Snyder Photo Preservation.

Years ago, my dad started scanning our family's photo collection so my siblings and I could all enjoy it digitally. It was a great idea, but like so many family projects, life got busy and it never quite got finished.

After becoming a stay-at-home mom, I decided to finish what he started. What began as a personal project eventually grew into scanning more than 40,000 photos between my family and my husband's.

Along the way, I discovered that photo preservation isn't really about scanning. It's about rediscovering stories.

While organizing my husband's family photos, I was able to get to know his mother more than I ever could have because she had passed away before I had the chance to meet her. And while sorting through my own family's collection, I found a newborn photo of myself I wasn't even sure existed. Those moments reminded me that every box of photos holds memories worth preserving.

That's why every order is handled personally by me, from pickup to delivery. No warehouses. No subcontractors. Just careful, local service from someone who understands how irreplaceable these photos are.

I have family between Weber County and Utah County, so I'm already traveling the I-15 corridor regularly. That's why I can offer free pickup and hand delivery from Ogden to Provo.

I'd be honored to help preserve your family's story.

Questions

The things people ask me

What types of photos can you scan?

I currently scan loose photographs and album photos up to 8×10 inches, plus slides and negatives. This covers the vast majority of family photo collections.

If you have larger prints, oversized portraits, framed photos, or other specialty items, contact me and I'll let you know whether they're a good fit or can be referred to someone who specializes in them.

Can you scan more than photos?

Yes. I can preserve many family keepsakes up to 8×10 inches, including certificates, letters, newspaper clippings, greeting cards, and other paper mementos.

What if my photos are already on CDs or DVDs?

I can import photos from CDs and DVDs and organize them alongside your scanned images so everything lives together in one digital archive.

What if half my photos are digital and half are scanned?

We help with that too! Our goal is to get your photos all in one place. We can work with you to get them organized.

Do I need to sort them first?

No. Please don't, actually — that's the step that stops everyone. Hand me the box exactly as it is. I have found it is so much easier for you to sort once it’s digital.

What if my photos are in albums?

Most albums are no problem.

Traditional albums with photo sleeves, pockets, or photo corners can usually be scanned safely and are covered by my standard album-handling service.

The more difficult ones are the older "magnetic" albums that were popular in the 1970s and 1980s. Despite the name, they aren't actually magnetic. Photos were placed on sticky adhesive pages and covered with a clear plastic sheet. Over time, the adhesive bonds to the photo, and removing it can cause tearing, curling, cracking, or other damage.

For traditional albums, if I encounter a photo that won't release easily, I'll stop and contact you before proceeding.

For magnetic albums, the risk applies to the entire album. Before any work begins, we'll review the album together and you'll decide whether you'd like me to remove the photos, understanding that some damage may be unavoidable even with careful handling. I never make that decision on my own.

What resolution do you scan at, and do I get the originals back?

High enough for prints and enlargements, not just screens. You get your original scans, delivered exactly as they came off the scanner — the one touch I make is removing red-eye. And if a photo has writing or a date on the back, you get a scan of the back too. Often that's the only record of who's in it and when, and most services throw it away.

What happens to my photos while you have them?

They stay in my house, in the container you gave me. They're backed up in two separate places from the moment they're scanned. They never get mailed, never get shipped, and never leave my hands except to come back to you.

How long do you keep my files?

Ninety days, as a courtesy — then they come off my system. After that your own backup is the only copy, which is exactly why the care sheet asks you to save your files in two places. If you'd rather I keep a backup permanently, ask about Archive Hold: your files stay in the cloud and your download link never expires.

Can you do VHS tapes?

Not yet — if you need VHS today, contact me anyway and I'll point you to someone good.

What is milestone billing?

For very large projects, payments are divided into stages as work is completed rather than requiring full payment upfront. We'll agree on the schedule before work begins, and you'll receive progress updates throughout the project.

I need this by Saturday for a funeral.

Contact me. I keep room for rush work, and 72-hour turnaround is a real thing I do. It's 50% more, and I will get it done.
